ANCIENT SEVEN
The Temple of Artemis, also known as Temple of Diana,
was dedicated to the goddess of fertility, Artemis. She is also the goddess
of night, fruitfulness, childbirth, beasts, bull and is supposed to be
an eternal virgin. The temple was completed around 550 BC at Ephesus under
the Achaemenid dynasty of the Persian Empire. It is located on the west
coast of modern Turkey, south of the Selcuk county and about 50 kilometres
south of Smyrna. The place was called as Ephesus during ancient times.
It got its rightful recognition as one of the seven wonders of the world.
